Wise Quotes - OVERINDULGENCE

Ever heard the phrase "Too much of everything is bad"? Today's wise quote deals with this from a Christians perspective.

A story is told of a woman who was over indulged in church activities, she failed to realise that her children were gradually falling into the hands of the world to bring them up. When trouble came knocking at her door, she then asked herself what had gone wrong and how she missed the signs.

Many of us fall short of this one way or the other......like this woman we over indulge in soo many activities, we hardly pause to think life through. The bible even says there is a time and a place for everything...... (Ecclesiastes  3:1-8). And this means even managing our time with church activities, family, work etc.

You might be struggling with the area of food or a bad temperament or maybe an addiction to a particular thing but what we need to realise is self-restraint should extend to all areas of life. And for the believer, temperance or moderation does not derive from sheer human willpower. It is only through The Holy Spirit by the grace of God who gives us self control.

Galatians 5:22-23 says The fruit of the Spirit is live, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, SELF CONTROL". Self control is the Spirit-produced quality that enables us to be "temperate in all things".

Overindulgence in food, rest, work, recreation, ministry and a variety of 'good things' can be corrected only through the balance of self-control. Take a few minutes today to ask God to produce that special virtue in you.

I'll leave you with this wise words from 'KIEDA'.......IF GAINING THE FRUIT OF SELF-CONTROL IS SOMETHING YOU'RE TRYING TO DO; SUBMIT YOUR WILL IN EVERYTHING TO THE SPIRIT LIVING IN YOU.

Have a blessed day.
