Wise Quotes - ARMOUR OF GOD 1

Until you encounter a spiritual battle, the Armour of God almost seems like another scripture to read and move on. Ephesians 6:10-18 has been one of my favorite scriptures this year. I once shared a Word on it with my fellow brethren in Slough PIWC church, which i think was the last i shared with them before God moved me on. But nothing prepared me for The Power God was going to use these scriptures to change my life. A careful study of them brings amazing confidence and boldness. I have therefore decided to take each one of them and elaborate daily.

Ephesians 6:10-18

Verses 10 to 13 - Be STRONG in the Lord and in His MIGHTY POWER. Put on the full Armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

THE BELT OF TRUTH (v.14a) - Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.

Before elaborating on this, i had to research what the Greek and Hebrew word for truth were. The Greek word for 'truth' is aletheia, which literally means to 'un-hide' or 'hiding nothing'. It conveys the thought that truth is always there, always open and available for all to see, with nothing being hidden or obscured. The Hebrew word for 'truth' is emeth, which means 'firmness', 'constancy' and 'duration'. Such a definition implies an everlasting substance and something that can be relied upon.

From a philosophical perspective, there are three simple ways to define truth;
  • Truth is that which corresponds to reality
  • Truth is that which matches its object
  • Truth is simply telling it like it is.
God's Word is THE truth. Isaiah 10:10 says the Lord is a true God; He is the living and the everlasting King. Paul is telling us to put on the breastplate of truth because the truth sets you free(John 8:32). The verse begins with, 'Then you will know the truth'........'You refers to those who are true disciples of Jesus. True disciples will know the truth and their eyes are opened to a greater understanding of it. It also brings with it FREEDOM which the verse goes on to say 'And the truth will set you free'.

Jesus is The Truth(John 14:6) and the freedom Jesus offers is a spiritual freedom from bondage of sin that is release from the lifestyle of habitual lawlessness. Knowing the truth will set one at liberty, free from sin, free from condemnation and free from death.

The truth about God's Word also provides guidelines for your life, the path to follow (Psalm119:105). The world is in darkness and the future seems uncertain but God's Word is a light which shows us the way to go. The WORD;

  • Gives us a vision
  • Teaches us how to walk as Christians
  • Shows us how to walk out God's specific plan for us.
Girt about your loins with TRUTH.
