In the company of your friends, family or colleagues, what does your presence says about you? Are you the type of colleague everyone run away from? Do people give good or bad statements about you? Are you the cheerful one or the moody one in your family? What does your friends really say about your friendship?
These are some check list we ought to examine in ourselves as believers. Every now and then we need to check these things to keep us on track. Our presence in the midst of others should be that which brings laughter, joy, warmth and comfort......our presence should bless others. Nobody likes to hang around 'a troublesome or annoying' person.
We are ambassadors for Christ....(II Corinthians 5:20) and hence our presence should reflect that of Christ. So what do you have to do to show the presence of God? We have to exhibit certain dynamics such as hospitality, the loving acceptance of all kinds of people, a quickness to serve, a tangible love for one another that makes people feel safe and indulged regardless of colour or class and also a patient tolerance of one another's weaknesses would all be a great way to start.
We are called to walk a manner 'worthy of the Lord'.....(Colossians 1:10) and being worthy means that we will be humble, gentle, bearing with one another in love, eagerly maintaining the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.....(Ephesians 4:2-3).
If like me, you need guidance in this area of life, pray this prayer with me.....
'Father I thank You for Your Word which is Life and Truth. Today i have learnt how my presence reflects that of Yours. Please forgive me of the times my presence hasn't been a blessing to others. May Your Perfect Spirit be my constant reminder of what you wish for me to be and from now, may others experience your presence through me wherever i may go or find myself'. Amen.
Have a spirit filled day wherever you are.
