Ephesians 6:10-18
Verses 10 to 15 -Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
THE HELMET OF SALVATION (v.17a) - Take the Helmet of Salvation.........
Salvation - Deliverance from the power and effects of sin, danger or difficulty by God's intervention.
I often hear people ask if one must do certain things or follow certain procedures to be saved.......and the simple answer is NO. Salvation is not earned by following certain steps. We CANNOT in any sense earn salvation because of our sins. We could follow a thousand steps and it would not be enough. Our ONLY SALVATION is through JESUS CHRIST. He had to die in our place. We are absolutely incapable of paying our sin debt to God or cleansing ourselves from sin. God already accomplished our salvation and the steps to it when He gave us His only Begotten Son.
Jesus offers salvation to anyone who will receive it from Him. All you have to do is to accept Him as Lord and Saviour and you are saved. (When the Philippian jailer asked Paul, "What must i do to be saved?" Paul responded, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved". Acts 16:30-31).
Procedures like publicly confessing Christ as Saviour, baptism, turning away from sin, committing your life to obeying God are all results of Salvation and NOT steps to it. So as a believer, have the trust that you are clothed with 'The Helmet of salvation', which was bought and paid for you by THE BLOOD of JESUS. Salvation provides you with everything you need, everyday of your life. There's never a moment you're outside HIS WATCHFUL CARE. Hebrews 7:25 says Therefore He is able, once and forever to save those who come to God through HIM. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
And to the one who wants to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, simply say this prayer.......Dear Lord, I thank You for Your Word. I know i am a sinner. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour today. I believe HE came to die for my sins and rose up again and is now on the right hand of God interceding for me. I confess with my mouth that HE is The Son of God. I receive your strength and welcome the power of The HOLY SPIRIT into my heart this day. I pray that 'YOUR WILL' will be done in my life now and forever. Amen.
