DAY 5 – LORD, TEACH ME TO WALK IN OBEDIENCE TO YOUR WAYS.
Our thoughts are not His thoughts and definitely not our ways His ways. God requires of us to walk according to His Word. A recent devotion i read quoted that 'God has put His reputation on the line by promising to perform every Word that He has spoken. Isaiah 46:11 also says, 'I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass. If God has decreed a condition over your life, you must fulfill it in order to receive His blessings.
This can be achieved by being obedient and disciplined. We must pray that God will enable us to be disciplined enough to do what we need to do and has been called to do. We all have one thing or the other with which we struggle with. You may be directed into spreading The Word but may fill inadequate to do so. But by obeying and seeking the direction of The Holy Spirit, it can be achieved.
Believe it or not, as women, we have been called on a greater part of life to be the helpers for our families......this is a harsh truth most women refuse to understand but once you accept that God made you in a unique way and He knew you would be the right person for the task, you joyfully embrace your place in the family setting and enjoy being the woman of your home. And by heeding to that role, you realise that each and everyday there is always a great sense of achievement in knowing your family has been blessed by your contribution......and guess what that is a blessing. *Here are ten reasons to obey God.......
1.We get our prayers heard - Psalm 66:18-19
2.We enjoy a deeper sense of the Lord's presence - John 14:23
3.We gain wisdom - Proverbs 2:7
4.We have God's friendship - John 15:14
5.We can live safely - Leviticus 25:18
6.We are perfected - I John 2:5
7.We are blessed - Deuteronomy 11:26-27
8.We find happiness - Proverbs 29:18
9.We have peace - Psalm 37:36
10.We have a long life - Proverbs 3:1-2
PRAYER
Lord, Your Word says that those of us who cause Your law
will have great peace and nothing will cause us to stumble (Psalm 119:165). I
love Your law because I know it is good and it is there for my benefit. Enable
me to live in obedience to each part of it so that I will not stumble and fall.
Help me to obey You so that I can dwell in the confidence and peace of knowing
I am living in Your way.
My heart wants to obey You in all things, Lord. Show me
where I am not doing that. If there are steps of obedience I need to take that
I don’t understand, I pray You would open my eyes to see the truth and help me
to take those steps. I know I can’t do all things right without Your help, so I
ask that You would enable me to live in obedience to Your ways. “With my whole
heart I have sought You; oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!” (Psalm
119:10).
Your Word says that “if we say we have no sin, we deceive
ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8). I don’t want to deceive myself by not asking
You where I am missing the mark You have set for my life. Reveal to me when I
am not doing things I should be doing. Show me if I’m doing things I should
not. Help me to hear Your specific instructions to me. Speak to me clearly
through Your Word so I will know what’s right and what’s wrong. I don’t want to
grieve the Holy Spirit in anything I do (Ephesians 4:30). Help me to be ever
learning about Your ways so I can live in the fullness of Your presence and
move into all You have for me. Amen.
Scriptures for Meditation
1 John 3:22
Whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His
commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
Psalm 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give
grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
1 John 3:24
He who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him.
And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
Luke 11:28
Blessed are those who fear the word of God and keep it!
John 14:21
He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who
loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him
and manifest Myself to him.

God bless you dear. Every child that listen to their parents often gets what they ask for, compared to the disobedient one. Although our God is not a respecter of persons, the same rules mostly applies.
ReplyDeleteExactly so.....and there is a definite connection between obedience and the Love of God. Even though God loves us, we won't sense His love if we are walking in disobedience to His ways. Thanks for commenting.
